When you rent out a vacation home, you get to experience a little bit of what it would be like to live in the place that you are visiting - at least more so than you would if you were just staying in a hotel. You would be surprised what a powerful experience this is. In fact, you may find yourself getting a little homesick when staying in a vacation rental because it’s just a little too much like a home that isn’t really your home.

One of the ways that you can reduce this feeling of homesickness when you travel is to bring items from home that are easy to transport but which make the home seem like the one that you left behind. For example, if you have personalized photo blankets or other unique personalized gifts that you use on a regular basis, you can bring this bedding with you and you’ll have a little piece of home.

You may think that this advice just applies to the kids in the group. It makes sense to bring kids bedding, for example, since the security blanket is always a good thing to have when taking kids into an unfamiliar environment. But you may actually find that the benefits of bringing some of home with you when you travel are actually just as important for you as for the kids.
