Helicopters are Best for Aerial Photography

As a photographer, you may find yourself interested in different niche areas of the art. One of those areas could be aerial photography. If so, you’d better learn to like the idea of riding in a helicopter. That’s because the helicopter is considered to be a much more efficient form of transportation for great aerial photography than an airplane or something like a hot air balloon.
Helicopters are the best option in part because they allow you to fly with the door open which means that you’ll have an uninhibited view of the sight that you’re trying to capture on film. You would have this same type of view if you were capturing images from a mode of transport such as the hot air balloon. However, the hot air balloon is going to be much more limited in where it can take you. The helicopter can take you almost anywhere that you want to go.
If you were to get really serious about aerial photography, to the point where you were implementing technical aspects of it like photogrammetry, you might be able to get more advanced equipment that would make it possible to take great pictures from a small plane. But if you’re just an average photographer dabbling in the art of taking aerial photos, you’ll want to learn a little bit about safely photographing objects from a helicopter.
