Shaping up my computer security skills

Well, it’s true. I’m headed to boot camp. But this isn’t your normal boot camp. And I’m not really going anywhere I guess. But I am going to put in some good, quality, hard work, and I know I’m going to learn a lot in a short amount of time, just like Army or Marine recruits do when they go to boot camp.
But the boot camp I’m talking about is the CISSP boot camp. If you haven’t heard of it before, don’t worry, I hadn’t either until a friend and I started talking about the different possibilities that are available in the information security industry. My friend is a certified ethical hacker, which is a person who is usually employed to hack security systems. But it’s not hacking in the negative way that you hear about on the news destroying innocent peoples’ computers. It’s actually something designed to teach you how bad hackers can attack systems, so that you can fight against it.
Information security was something I’ve been hearing a lot about lately, and I was especially inspired after my friend gave me a copy of the Shon harris book that addresses a ton of interesting and useful information. So now I’m going to dive in head-first, and become as tough an information security soldier as I can possibly be.
