Mass Flow Meters and The Independent Woman

When my friend Jane first got divorced, the feeling that overwhelmed her was immediately one of helplessness. She had been in one of those marriages where she dealt with all of the "woman’s jobs" and her husband handled all of the "men’s work". She could take care of the kids single-handedly but when it came to jobs like leaky faucets and mowing the lawn, she was at a loss.
After the divorce, it became necessary for Jane to go back to work. Without a lot of skills, she was looking primarily at office jobs. She stumbled across a sales job working for some company like Sierra Instruments. The company sold ultrasonic flow meters which are used to measure liquid or gas in a pipe. It wasn’t a fitting job for the old Jane but it made perfect sense for Jane now.
Through working at a company like this, side by side with men who knew how to use the equipment they were selling, Jane was able to establish a stronger sense of self. Before long, she could tell clients which mass flow meters were best and she could stand up for herself to her ex-husband. This strength came from an unlikely source at a much needed time in her life.
