It is amazing to me sometimes how much people with disabilities are capable of. I remember as a child being fascinated with how well a friend with only one hand tied her shoes. I think those of us without any disabilities are so accustomed to our little conveniences that we can’t begin to imagine how anyone could accomplish the same things without them.

That’s why I like hearing about instances such as this doctor, who is disabled. Even without the use of his right arm, he has continued to pursue a career as a doctor.

Unfortunately, not every person with a disability or an illness is this lucky, which is why there is dentist disability insurance and disability insurance for physician. When you have your own practice, you are fully dependent on yourself for your income; disability insurance ensures that if something happens to you, you will still have at least part of your income to depend on.

I have never liked taking medicines of any kind.  My mom tells the story of how I used to scream bloody murder whenever she tried to give me any medicine of any kind and believe me, I still feel that way.  I’m probably a little too severe in this thinking but unless I’m deathly ill, I don’t take any medications.  Period.  So when I started to really suffer from carpal tunnel treatment for me is kind of limited. One of the ladies at work told me about magnetic therapy products that she uses for her wrist pain, so I gave it a try.  I was really impressed!  I was already using a wrist brace but other than that, I was really going more for natural pain relief, and this filled the ticket! That was really a relief for me, and now I find I am much more productive at work than I used to be, and don’t suffer nearly as much from those sharp shooting pains through my wrist; very distracting when you’re typing that is for sure!  I’m a blogger in my spare time at home, and this helps me keep going at my part-time hobby!

Some lady in city hall is trying to pass a ban on airsoft guns in the neighborhood outside of airsoft clubs.  She said that they are just as dangerous for children as guns.

I agree that they can be dangerous, but so can just about everything else, from monkey bars to baseball bats, but we aren’t going to restrict those.  When I was a kid, just about every boy in the neighborhood had a bb gun, and sure there were a few nicks and scratches here and there, but we all made it out alive.

I think the best thing to do is require that if a person under 18 purchases any KWA airsoft guns or Echo1 airsoft guns that they must also enroll in a safety course.  From what I’ve heard they have the potential to be pretty powerful and some young boys might not know how to operate them.

All in all, though, I think it’s a little fascist to ban all types of airsoft guns without even discussing the subject.  The average bb gun isn’t anymore dangerous today than it was 10 or 20 years ago, so I don’t see a reason to change the laws.

I just hope this doesn’t become one of those laws that pass without public discussion just because people aren’t paying any attention.

I’m not a big fan of sexy Halloween costumes, for two reasons: One, I think they can be kind of demeaning, but two — isn’t it usually a little cold in October for that sort of thing?

Still, I guess sexy costumes are pretty popular, so maybe they have their place in Halloween celebrations. There are of course plenty of the customary sexy costumes — naughty schoolgirls, nurses, and maids — but many women come up with more unique ideas, too. For instance, you’d be surprised how sexy an adult Tinkerbell costume can be made to look (remember Tink’s infatuation with Peter? don’t tell me she wasn’t a shameless seductress!) and of course you can turn medieval clothing into a sexy costume by dressing as a barmaid with a low-cut dress.

As for me, though — personally I like to judge costumes by the amount of imagination that went into them, rather than the amount of bosoms falling out of them. A sexy pirate costume can be pretty cool if it is well planned and put together, but the sexy schoolgirl costume is WAY too overdone. I mean, come on, pretty much every high school or college girl has THAT idea!

The moral of the story: Whether or not you decide to dress sexy for Halloween, at least make sure your costume has some substance — figuratively, I mean, as I don’t care if you go naked as Lady Godiva, as long as you’ve put some good imagination into planning it!
