The Many Reasons Why I Blog
Posted by Fun on 02/7/08 in Internet
I keep a lot of blogs, each one with a different purpose. Here are some of the reasons why I blog.
- To get higher search engine rankings. I have a blog attached to my own website that I contribute to regularly. The blog benefits my website for a few reasons: because it’s updated frequently, because it helps me become known in the community (which brings me more traffic), and because the links pointing back to my site from other people’s blogs and websites make my site appear more important to Google.
- To create “branding.” Because I blog regularly, I am constantly getting my name out into the online community. This achieves branding, which is where consumers associate your name with the products or services you offer.
- To sell ad space. Two of my blogs are maintained for the sole purpose of selling ad space. I choose affiliate ads that are related to my blog topics, which makes it more likely that my readers will be interested in what the ads offer.
- As part of my Internet marketing services. Professional bloggers like myself often blog for Internet marketing companies or directly individual clients. I work with a link building expert to craft blog posts with embedded links to help boost a client’s search engine ranking — the more links, the merrier the ranking. This is known as link popularity services or link building services.
- Because I enjoy it. The most important reason why I blog is because I enjoy it. I enjoy the relaxed, conversational style of writing, and I like writing to and interacting with my readers.
