Some lady in city hall is trying to pass a ban on airsoft guns in the neighborhood outside of airsoft clubs.  She said that they are just as dangerous for children as guns.

I agree that they can be dangerous, but so can just about everything else, from monkey bars to baseball bats, but we aren’t going to restrict those.  When I was a kid, just about every boy in the neighborhood had a bb gun, and sure there were a few nicks and scratches here and there, but we all made it out alive.

I think the best thing to do is require that if a person under 18 purchases any KWA airsoft guns or Echo1 airsoft guns that they must also enroll in a safety course.  From what I’ve heard they have the potential to be pretty powerful and some young boys might not know how to operate them.

All in all, though, I think it’s a little fascist to ban all types of airsoft guns without even discussing the subject.  The average bb gun isn’t anymore dangerous today than it was 10 or 20 years ago, so I don’t see a reason to change the laws.

I just hope this doesn’t become one of those laws that pass without public discussion just because people aren’t paying any attention.
