Mulling Over a New Business

I am the type of person who wants to start working on a new idea immediately as soon as the first tendrils of it graze across my brain. When it comes to doing big things like trying to start your own business, you just can’t operate in this type of impulsive manner. You have to go through a planning period and that’s something that I’m just not accustomed to yet.

A few years back, I got the chance to invest in a shipping business opportunity that I really thought was a great idea. I had decided that I wanted to own a franchise business. I had briefly researched the best franchises to buy. And I really thought that I could make this work because it seemed like such a great business opportunity for me.

Unfortunately, I didn’t really do all of the groundwork that needed to be done in order to be successful at something like this. I’d done the basics. I’d scratched the surface. But I just didn’t do the whole planning period. If I’d taken the time to really mull over the details of what this business would be like, I probably would have realized that in all honesty it wasn’t the right business for me despite being a great opportunity. I didn’t take that time and I lost money as a result.
